A trip to the Manikia Waterfall is something you shouldn’t miss if you come to Kymi. The landscape at the waterfall is so beautiful and exotic that you’ll feel like you’re somewhere else, not in Greece! Rivers, waterfalls, small lakes, and even a tiny beach (just enough for two people) are some of the things you’ll see.

The ideal time to go is early in the summer when the river has less water, making it easier to cross. Keep in mind that it will be difficult not to get your shoes wet, so it’s a good idea to have a spare pair in the car for the return journey. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit, camera, and a towel.

Directions: Enter the village of Manikia in your mobile GPS, specifically here. The road up to that point is paved. Then, enter the coordinates for the chapel of Saint Ioannis. However, the road from Manikia onwards is a dirt road, so those with a 4×4 vehicle can drive all the way to the river, very close to the waterfall. It’s possible to go with a regular car, but be cautious, and in my personal opinion, it’s best to leave the car at that point if you don’t want to risk having to push it on the way back.

After the chapel, continue on the dirt road, which leads to the river. From there, follow alongside the river, sometimes on the right side and sometimes on the left. Along the way, you’ll come across two small lakes and a small waterfall, but the highlight is the large waterfall.
